For Adults and New Muslims

Online Adult Quran Classes

Private one-to-one Quran lessons built around your schedule and your level. Start from the Arabic alphabet or refine your recitation, with no pressure and no judgment.

Quran Classes Designed for Adults

Adults learn differently from children. You have less free time, more responsibilities, and often a quiet fear of being judged for not knowing how to read. Our adult Quran classes are one-to-one, so there is nobody to compare yourself to, and your teacher sets the pace.

Whether you are a revert starting from the Arabic alphabet, a lifelong Muslim who never learned to read properly, or someone who reads well and wants to improve your Tajweed, the plan starts with an honest listen to your recitation in the free trial. From there your teacher builds a path and adjusts it as your confidence grows.

Classes are held live on our own learning portal at times that suit your day, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Women can choose a female teacher and men a male teacher.

Many adults come to us after trying apps, videos, or a local class that moved too fast. The difference with a private teacher is correction. Reading the Quran involves sounds that are new to many learners, and the only reliable way to fix a wrong sound is to have someone hear it and show you. Your teacher also keeps you accountable, which is often what makes the difference between a plan and a habit.

As your reading improves, your goals can grow with it. Some students stay with reading and Tajweed for years. Others begin memorizing short Surahs for their prayers, and some move on to a full Hifz plan. You can change direction at any time without starting over, because your teacher already knows your level.

Adult Quran Syllabus by Level

You do not need to start at the beginning. Your teacher will place you where your recitation actually is.

Level 1

Reading from Scratch

Learn to recognize and pronounce the Arabic letters and read words.

  • Arabic letters, their sounds, and their shapes
  • Short and long vowels and basic signs
  • Joining letters into words
  • Reading short, simple verses with a teacher

Typically 2 to 4 months at 2 to 3 classes a week

Level 2

Fluent Reading

Move from slow, letter-by-letter reading to confident Quran reading.

  • Reading complete pages with the Madani Mushaf
  • Common rules of Noon Sakinah and Madd
  • Reciting the Surahs used in daily prayer
  • Building reading speed without losing accuracy

Typically 3 to 6 months, depending on practice

Level 3

Tajweed and Beyond

Refine your recitation and choose the next goal.

  • Makharij and Sifat correction
  • Complete Tajweed rules in the context of real verses
  • Optional: start memorizing short Surahs
  • Optional: understanding the meaning of what you recite

Open-ended; you decide how far to go

How Long Will It Take?

Many adults are surprised how quickly the basics come together once they practice regularly. These ranges depend entirely on how much time you can give.

  • 10 to 15 minutes of daily practice usually works better than one long session
  • Prior exposure to Arabic helps, but it is not required
  • You can pause and resume classes around work, travel, or Ramadan
  • Your teacher will give you a realistic estimate once they have heard you read

Who Is This Course For?

  • Adults who never learned to read Arabic in childhood
  • Parents who want to learn with or before their children
  • Working professionals who need evening or weekend classes
  • Sisters who prefer a female teacher in a private setting

Common Worries Adults Have

If any of these sound familiar, you are in good company.

"I feel embarrassed that I cannot read."

This is the most common thing adult students tell us. Lessons are private, so only your teacher hears you, and every teacher has helped many adults begin from the first letter.

"I do not have much time."

You do not need hours. A 30-minute class two or three times a week, plus ten minutes of daily practice, is enough to make steady progress. Classes can be moved when work or family gets busy.

"I have tried before and gave up."

Learning alone from apps or videos often stalls because nobody corrects your mistakes. With a live teacher, errors are caught in the moment, which is why students keep going.

"I do not know Arabic."

You do not need to. Reading the Quran is a separate skill from speaking Arabic. We teach the letters, the sounds, and the rules, and you can study the meaning later if you choose.

What a Typical Week Looks Like

Learning to read the Quran is a skill, and skills grow with small, regular practice. Here is what most adult students do each week.

  • Two or three live classes of 30 minutes (extendable up to 60 minutes on request), at times you choose.
  • A short assignment after each class: a few lines to read or a rule to practice.
  • Ten minutes of daily reading at home, which is the habit that makes the biggest difference.
  • A quick check-in with your teacher on progress, so the plan can speed up or slow down.

If you are a woman who would prefer a female teacher, see our page for sisters' classes. For pricing, visit the fee page.
